Your Messages area has two views: your Inbox and your Hidden conversations.
What’s the difference between my Inbox and my Hidden conversations?
Your Inbox shows your active conversations — the ones with recent messages or something waiting for your attention. Hidden is your secondary view for conversations that have gone quiet. Both are fully readable; to see the quieter ones, simply switch to the Hidden view in your Messages area.
Why did a conversation move out of my Inbox?
When a conversation you’ve both taken part in goes 60 days without any activity, it moves to your Hidden view to keep your Inbox focused on what’s current. “Activity” means either person sending a message, or you opening the conversation when the other member sent last. The conversation isn’t gone — it stays readable in Hidden, and it returns to your Inbox as soon as either of you sends a new message.
I sent a message but never heard back — where did that conversation go?
If you’ve messaged someone and they haven’t replied, that one-sided conversation moves to your Hidden view after 14 days. Don't worry, it will return to your inbox when the other member replies
I have an unread message — could it disappear from my Inbox?
No. An unread message keeps a conversation in your Inbox for as long as it takes you to read it. Unread mail always takes priority, so a conversation with something new waiting for you will never slip away on its own.
Are my Hidden conversations gone for good?
Not at all. Hidden conversations are simply set aside, not deleted. You can switch to the Hidden view to read them anytime, and any of them will return to your Inbox the moment there’s a new message. Only a couple of situations remove a conversation entirely — those are covered below.
Unmatching and Conversations That End
What happens when I unmatch someone?
When you unmatch someone, that conversation is removed from both your Inbox and your Hidden view right away. Please note that unmatching is permanent and cannot be undone, so it’s worth being sure before you do it.
What happens if someone unmatches me?
If the other member unmatches you and their last message to you is still unread, you’ll get one final chance to read it. Once you’ve opened and read that message, the conversation is removed from all of your lists. If there was nothing left unread when they unmatched, the conversation will already be gone.
What happens if the other member’s account is closed?
If the other member’s account is deleted or locked, their conversation stays in your Inbox for up to 48 hours — or until you open it, whichever comes first. Opening it moves it to Hidden right away, where it remains readable for up to 14 days before dropping off entirely.
Why does my Inbox look smaller than it used to?
A tidier Inbox is expected. Any conversation that had already been quiet longer than these windows simply moved to your Hidden view. Nothing was lost — just switch to Hidden to find those conversations, and remember they’ll return to your Inbox whenever there’s new activity.
