What can I do if I hear from someone who doesn't meet my criteria?

When someone searches for other members, CatholicMatch shows a listing of everyone who meets their search criteria. Next, the member who is searching will typically view each of the profiles that appear in their search results.

If you receive a view from someone who doesn't meet your criteria:

This is very normal. This means that you met their criteria so they took the time to read over your profile to see if the two of you might make a good match. If you clearly mentioned your preferences for a match in your ideal match section of your profile and they do not meet those preferences, they'll know to move on to the next profile because you would not view them as a good match.

If you receive communication from someone who doesn't meet your criteria:

You're never under the obligation to respond to those who don't interest you, but we do recommend sending a polite response to acknowledge that you received their message. Keep in mind that when you're contacted by someone who lives farther away than you'd like, there's a good chance that they frequent your area or may be planning a move to that area in the future.

If you receive a lot of messages from those who don't meet your preferences, check to make sure that you've clearly mentioned your requirements for a match in your Ideal Match section of your profile, including age and distance. When you do this, those who don't meet your preferences will see this and know to move on to the next profile because you would not view them as a good match. Other members cannot see your search criteria, so make sure to mention your requirements directly in your profile.
